Mike Holmes Approves of Eaton Whole Home Surge Protection

Mike Holmes, contractor and host of the television show “Holmes on Homes,” and diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation, a global leader in electrical power management, today announced a collaboration to offer homeowners a line of “Holmes Approved” electrical surge protectors.

When installed on a home’s breaker box, Eaton’s surge products can help prevent or minimize damage to electronic devices, home appliances and other equipment in the event of electrical surges.

“People never think it could happen, but it happened to me,” said Mike Holmes. “A large electrical surge entered my house and I lost all my electronics that were plugged in. All of them. The first thing I did after replacing everything was install an Eaton Complete Home Surge protector.”

Mike Holmes is an advocate for homeowner and building safety. All projects and initiatives undertaken by the star contractor are defined by quality, integrity and trust. Eaton’s product innovation, superior customer service and commitment to doing business right makes the collaboration a logical next step.

“In an era of increasingly sophisticated and costly electronics and household appliances, homeowners have a lot on the line,” said Joanne Edwards, vice president and general manager, Eaton Corporation. “When a surge happens, their best defense is comprehensive surge protection.”

“I’ve been using these devices for years on the homes I work on,” added Holmes. “Don’t learn the hard way. It’s always better to prevent than replace.”

Eaton’s Complete Home Surge Protection Devices protect your home electronics from the damaging effects of electrical surges. They provide premium surge protection for AC power, telephone and cable at the point of entrance to the home. Protection at this location can reduce surges entering the home to an acceptable level for your home electronics and appliances.

Reminder…Check Your Smoke/CO Detectors Monthly

This morning we had a crew working at an apartment complex in Charlotte, while on-site working they heard another units CO Detector go off. The residents of the unit did the right thing by calling 911 and having the fire department come out. The local fire department evacuated the entire building and is in the process of determining the cause and making the area safe. The residents in this unit are lucky they had working CO Detectors because this could have ended completely different. This is just a reminder to please check your Smoke and CO detectors monthly! Below is a video from NFPA (National Fire Protection Agency) on the importance of CO Detectors. Also, below you will see a CO Safety handout with great safety pointers (we also have one for Smoke Alarm Safety – CLICK HERE)! ARC Electric Company is always thinking of our customers and want to make sure you put safety first! Please give us a call if we can help in anyway. 704-821-7005

Help reduce your Home’s Fire Risk this Holiday Season

Wow, the holiday season is here. It seems to come quicker every year. This week as you celebrate Thanksgiving and kick off the holiday season, here are a few tips to keep you safe. With holiday traditions often including higher demands for electricity, your home’s electrical system will be getting quite the work out. Here are a few tips to keep you safe:

Plan accordingly. Before decorating, determine how many outlets are available and where they are located. Plan your displays accordingly.

Don’t overload. Avoid overloading electrical outlets with too many decorations or electrical devices. They can overheat and cause a fire.

LED Lights. Consider purchasing LED lights, which use less energy and run cooler than traditional incandescent lights

Just a few small changes can go a long way in keeping you and your family safe all without compromising your holiday. Enjoy your time with family and friends. Give thanks for the many blessings that surround you. And, if you need help with anything electrical, give us a call. We are happy to help.
